Bombus

Ease of Understanding: ---  Easy to understand for the most part. Although author tried to incorporate the use of scientific terms into the story, which might make it difficult for younger children to understand.Definitions of the scientific terms are included. I just felt that trying to explain a scientific term to a young child took away from the plot of the story.

Would you recommend this resource for a small group or Sunday School study?:---  This would be an appropriate resource for a Sunday School teacher to use as a supplement to a curriculum. Although I could see it bette used in an early education program ( ie preschool )

General Review, by Ann Madison:

This story is about a little bumblebee that gets lost named Bombus. While Bombus is on his journey to find his way back home he meets several interesting characters. None of which wants to help him. Bombus becomes more and more apprehensive when meeting new characters. Then he comes to meet a dragonfly named Doreena. Doreena is a very kind character and Bombus is afraid to befriend her.

Bombus soon discovers that Doreena is in fact a good friend.Bombus protect Doreena until she is ready to fly. Once Doreena is strong enough she gladly helps Bombus find his home.Bombus discovers that to have a friend you need to be  friend.

This is a cute story to help kids learn  how to be a friend. The author has tried to incorporate scientific terms throughout story, which may only result in somewhat confusing the child to whom you are reading.Although, having the scientific facts at the end of the story is a nice added feature.

There also is  an accompanying activity book titled," Bombus Creativity Book". The activity book has many craft, puzzles, games and ideas to do with a child. These are very well laid out and would be an excellent supplement to any early education program. I would estimate the age level for these books to be 4-7 years of age.
