General Review, by D. Koval
This unique book relates the story of the birth of Jesus from a Jewish perspective. Hebrew names are used for people and places. Mary is Miriam and Joseph is Yosef, for example. This gives the reader a flavor of how people spoke and how they lived. The book is illustrated on a scroll with beautiful, full-color illustrations on the left and large font text on the right. On the outer edges of each page is the roll-up parts of the scroll, covered in the author’s explanations of history and Messianic prophecies in smaller font. I enjoyed reading this very familiar account of Jesus’ birth with a different perspective. The illustrations and narrative brought the book to life, making it easier to picture what occurred. This book works on two levels; wonderful for children plus educational for adults! I appreciated all the Scripture regarding Jesus and fulfillment of prophecy that the author referenced in the side bars on every page.
