This documentary would be great for a short, topical, Sunday School study.

 General Review, by Catherine Myers:

This resource describes Catholic doctrines from a Scriptural perspective, and explains that the disparity between church tradition and Scripture is what is causing the Catholic “Crisis of Faith”.  Catholic doctrines such as transubstantiation, the Immaculate Conception, purgatory, and the means of salvation (among others) are filtered through Scriptures, and discrepancies are noted. Many prominent former Catholics were interviewed for this resource, including several priests and nuns from a variety of different orders.   These former church leaders testify that what caused them to relinquish their Catholic faith was the truth revealed to them in Scripture.

Catholicism: Crisis of Faith is an amazing resource, especially with regards to the potential impact it can have on people of all denominations, especially Catholics. It gives non-Catholics an understanding of Catholic doctrine, and it gives Catholics much needed insight on these doctrines, and on how far Rome strayed from God’s Holy Word when it elevated man’s tradition to a position equal to or above the Bible. As a witnessing tool, I believe this resource has great potential to reach many Catholics-- therefore, I recommend it for everyone, with this caveat:  Most devout Catholics will be hostile to this resource, and anything else they may perceive as an attack on the Catholic faith. Your ultimate purpose in using this resource is to win souls, not to belittle the Catholic Church.  When sharing it with a Catholic loved one, be careful to present it with a humble spirit, in love.   In gentleness, challenge your loved one to examine doctrines against Scripture, by reading Scripture. Don’t be confrontational, don’t argue, and don’t press them to make a quick decision.  Let the Holy Spirit reveal truth to them, and trust God to do the rest.
